Includes plastic water bottles and soda bottles.
Reduce
Water bottles
If you drink bottled water at home, use a home filter system (like Brita) instead. You can often get a pitcher or get a filter that attaches to your faucet.
For occasions in which water is distributed to many people, you may buy larger containers of water and have people use disposable (preferably paper) cups. Have a marker handy so people can keep track of their cup.
If you distribute many water bottles, have a marker handy to for people to mark their bottle and reduce the number of partially-consumed bottles laying around because people forgot which bottle was theirs and decide to just grab a new one.
Reuse
Cut the tops off and use the remaining bottoms as makeshift cups (when camping, for example), or punch drainage holes in the bottom of the cups to use as plant containers.
Make your own pop bottle drip irrigation system to supply your plants with a steady water supply.
Use an old 2-liter bottle to make a rocket, great for kids’ science experiments or a science demo.
Cut off the top of a 2-liter bottle to use as low-quality funnel if you feel your use doesn’t justify buying a new funnel.
