Reduce
Borrow books from the library or friends.
Read the book at a book store. 
P
Download the book if an electronic version is available.
Reuse
Donate them to your local library if the books are in pretty good condition (thanks, Nancy). Even if the library doesn’t add the books to their collection, they often have book sales for fund raising.
Give away your books and get other peoples’ books for free at Bookmooch.
Recycle
Feed the pages to your compost bin P. Shiny or hard covers are probably not too biodegradable.
